The last year has shown that when you send New Democrats to Ottawa, we get results. Jagmeet and I will keep fighting for you.
Sean Devine is a proven community builder. He has worked hard to improve the quality of life for his community and is proud to be someone the community turns to when faced with a challenge. He is standing with Jagmeet Singh’s NDP to build a more hopeful future we can all look forward to.
After moving to Ottawa in 2014, Sean joined his local community association, where he has served as president for the past four years. He has led important public consultations and has represented his community to elected officials. He has advocated on behalf of residents fighting development and has spearheaded food drives for the local shelter.
In 2018, after Sean’s community of Trend-Arlington was hit by a devastating tornado, he spent several months organizing and operating the recovery effort. His leadership was recognized with the United Way’s Community Builder of the Year Award and the Mayor of Ottawa’s City Builder Award.
Sean has worked in arts and culture for three decades as a writer, theatre artist, producer, and consultant. Currently, he is a program officer for Canada’s largest public sector arts funder. He knows that creativity brings fresh insight to complex issues. Governments needs economists, lawyers, environmentalists, and business leaders – but they also need artists and innovators.
As a father of four, Sean passes down the values he was raised on, which tell him to care for the needs of others. As your Nepean MP, he will fight for action on addressing the climate emergency, fighting wealth inequality, and building stronger communities. Sean wants to bring a compassionate and collaborative approach to federal government.
